Jamie Wallace, CLD

I’m Jamie Wallace and I am so excited to be a part of The Shoals Doula Group and work with the other amazing doulas improving pregnancy and birth for our community! I have been married to my husband since 2000 and we have 3 children, Layla, Lydia and Liam. We reside in Cherokee, AL and love rural, farm life!

My fascination and desire to help women started after my first pregnancy and birth. I became interested in midwives and was disappointed in the lack of options in our area and the common one- size fits all birth culture. I left my jobs as a cosmetologist and a waitress and was a stay at home mom for over 10 years during which my obsession with pregnancy and birth grew. I considered midwifery and nursing but felt lead to doula work after learning that there were several in the area and a training class was coming up. I attended a CAPPA labor doula training in May 2015 and obtained my certification. I spend a lot of time researching birth, reading about birth, and watching birth videos. I have attended and observed several birth related classes, online birth and breastfeeding classes and am always excited for new education opportunities. I am actively continuing my education as required by CAPPA to keep my certification current. I have just recently began the process of training as bereavement doula through Stilbirthday. I also teach some of our private and monthly Simply Birth classes. Staying active in the birth community is very important to me as we all work together to bring awareness to improving the birth culture and outcomes.

I don’t have one specific “doula style”. I cater to all of my clients individually according to needs/desires. I love helping people! Whichever birth you choose to have, I believe that encouragement, informational resources and support (physical and emotional) play a vital role in pregnancy and birth and lowers the anxiety of expectant parents. I would like to thank you for your consideration and would be honored to be a part of your birth team!!
